MIA

I just came home from the hospital a few days ago, and hopefully will be returning to work. I've out of work for a month, and needless to say... nothing has gotten paid. As much as I'm happy to be home, I can't help but to feel gloomy. Once again I'm thrusted back into a situation on feeling helpless financially. At least when I'm hooked up to monitors and i.v.'s the only thing I can think about is getting better. When I'm home, however... it's another story.

When I'm home I have to worry about if I'll make rent this month, when I'll be able to afford to get my power and water back on... how much more time my boss will give me off if I get sick again before they just get sick of me.

I just wish my parents were still around. Things always seem just a bit easier when your parents are around.

Thank you so much to everyone that has sent me links while I've been away.

Question

 in response to trynhard...

Thank you hun! I have a pretty scarf I think I'll use. My grandma bought it for me before she passed away, the first time I had cancer.

I'm going to try that. I feel so bad since i thought someone was paying for me until i was back on my feet. I was mistaken though so now things are just.... hard for the time being. At least it's summer so I don't have to worry about being cold!

Question

Is there a place that would be able to help with a water bill?

This is completely my own fault, and a huge miscomunication between me and someone else, but I hadn't paid the bill and now the water is shut off, and I don't have $300 at the moment to turn it back on. I made a post some of the other sites I was recomended before, but I don't know if I qualify to recieve help since this was a stupid mistake on my part.

My cancer treatment is going well, I'm losing alot of hair, so I think I'm going to take the plunge and just shave the rest off. Bald is beautiful right?

If anyone ever needs a pen pal or just someone to vent to: my email is sailorgirl1232000@yahoo.com, let's all be here for eachother.

Also I think I'm going to be selling alot of my stuff to help with costs and such... wouldn't it be an awesome idea to have a online garage sale lol?

Have you tried to recieve aid from the state. I know whenever there's a child involve the state will usually find some kind of way to help out.

WIC is also an option for providing food for your child, and maybe the salvation army for clothes. Also look into church groups, since some local churches can help with food. There's food banks as well in some place.

Best of luck, and stay strong for your little one.

Hey

 in response to ekikaseven...

Thank you!

I have (hopefully) only two more major surgeries left. People from all walks of life have been so helpful and supportive. Someone even donated a wheel chair for me to use, because I wasn't able to afford the cost of (renting or what have you) one out. It was completely suprising, and greatly appreciate.

We just all have to remember that there are amazing people out there.

*hugs*

Hey

I haven't been around for a couple weeks, mostly because I've been in the hospital. I'm feeling a bit better, and thought I would give an update here.

Thank you all again for your support. This place is so wonderful because of how all the people here want to see the best for everyone. It's good to know there's somewhere to turn too, even if its just for words of encouragement.

The money situation is still tight, since I've missed work for a few weeks. I'm sure I'll figure something out there. The most important thing is to stay hopeful.

To everyone out there, that is having a hard time.... stay strong. Things have a way of working out, and no one stays in the dark forever. You just have to keep pushing forward.

My phone is getting turned off :-(

Is there a place that helps with paying bills that aren't assocaited with your actual medical program. My phone is about to be turned off since all my funds have been aimed towards my medical expenses... I can't afford to have it turned off since it's my only source of communicating with my doctors and such.

It would only be a one time payment help, since I believe I'll be ok financially next month. I'm making myself sick about this. I hate not being able to get this taken care of right away.

The modest needs site, needs you to donate in order to recieve help.. which I would, but at this time I can't.

Thank you to everyone that's provided links to help with my health care! I have found some that are working with me!

Advice on helping my family.

I wish there was something I could do to help. Have you tried

http://www.modestneeds.org/

They might be able to help you get some money together for your rent until you can find a home that is more in your price range. '

Hope

I feel a new sense of strength today, and wanted to share and pass on the good energy.

So *hugs* to all

A really great site and group I found is http://www.2hands.org/index.html. If I had the means and wasn't in need myself I would love to be able to participate. Hopefully I can do so in the future.

Does anyone know of any good online "cancer" support groups?

I don't know if you belong to a church, or are religous... but I know some churches have vans to help the needy make important appointments. It might be something to look into.

I feel for you. I have a coworker with the same problem. The most I can suggest is contacting local denist school. I know the college I attended offered a program for dentistry, and if you were a student at the school... you automatically were offered minor dentail work for free. I'm sure if you find a school... they will have something more affordable for your situation.

They seem like a really great organization.

Fustrated

I've turned to almost every organization I can think of for help, and since the damned for help is so high these days, processing and finding out anything takes quite a bit of time. In the meantime, you're in pain... and the stupid hospital expects so much money up front before they'll do anything. I don't understand.

It's not like I'm not working over 40 hours a week, but I can't afford to lose my home since I have more than just me living there. I have a family to support. I'm making an extreme effort... I'm not looking for hand outs... just help.

At this point I feel like giving up. Someone tell me something good?

Thank you soooo much for your thoughts. I really do appreciate them. I've looked into insuance, and if you have a prior condition, the rates increase pretty dramatically... and in most cases don't cover most or my treatments... which means I'm paying a couple extra hundred dollars for something that isn't bennifiting me. I still continue to search for something that is both afforadable and that will help cover expenses.

I know where you're coming from. I have no health insurance right now, and have nothing. It's hard to bleed a rock. Have you tried different church groups? Sometimes they will help raise funds. I'm sorry I can't be more of help. My thoughts are with you and your family at this time.
